Hi! I’m a product design coach and consultant. I help people uncover their strengths, passions, and needs to build a career that’s fully aligned with who they are.

When who you are and what you do are in alignment, it feels SO GOOD. But it takes a little work and a lot of perspective to get there. And that’s what I’m here for.

I help designers and design managers understand what they bring to the table, and provide them with the insights and tools they need to achieve their goals.

As a practicing product designer, I have a deep knowledge of the current design landscape, community, and best practices. I bring this expertise to my coaching practice and can help you:

  • Figure out your story — what are your strengths and insights? What do you bring to the table?

  • Build a broad set of tools to frame problems/solutions and confidently make your case to management/colleagues

  • Take a more active role/voice in the full product pipeline

  • Uncover knowledge gaps and create a plan to fill them

  • Develop a presence for yourself and your company in the tech community

In addition to my coaching practice, I’m currently Head of Design at EM & Co, a product design agency.

With over a decade of experience as a product design lead at both agencies and companies like Etsy and The New York Times, I have a passion for breaking down silos and creating a culture of collaboration within product teams.

This passion for collaboration and community led me to co-found the Champaign-Urbana Design Organization (CUDO) in 2009, and through CUDO I had the privilege of cultivating a thriving local design culture. I taught typography to undergraduate students at Parkland College, and now speak regularly about design process.

I live in Vancouver, Canada with my amazing husband and 2-year-old son.

Maya has a wealth of knowledge and design expertise to draw from, and her ability to share that information and support career growth in others is one of her super powers. As a new PM, she was hugely influential in defining my collaborative preferences and approach to working with product designers.
